A 42-year-old patient came to us from Uzbekistan with the presence of stones in the gallbladder and divergence of the muscles of the anterior wall of the abdominal cavity (umbilical hernia).

The task was to eliminate both problems during one operation in a laparoscopic (closed) way. This is a combined operation. We turned to Prof. Mehmet Caglikulekci, a surgeon with extensive experience in gastrointestinal surgery. The clinic of Yeditepe University was chosen as the place of the operation.

A successful laparoscopic operation was performed, during which the gallbladder was removed, and a MESH patch was placed in the area of the umbilical hernia, completely covering the abdominal wall defect. Over time, the muscles grow through the patch and a strong wall forms, preventing the hernia from recurring. A day after the operation, the patient was discharged for observation. Our coordinator for Uzbekistan controlled the entire process of treatment and postoperative care.

On the 6th day after the operation, the professor conducted a final examination, and the patient flew back to Uzbekistan in perfect health. In a month, she will undergo a follow-up examination at our partner clinic in Tashkent.
